Compared to the G Sedan, the Q50 has the same wheelbase but overall is longer, and wider than its predecessor. The new Q50 has an athletic stance that is 188.3 inches long, has an overall width of 71.8 inches and a 112.2-inch wheelbase. The Q50’s exterior styling features Infiniti’s signature double-arch front grille, dynamic arch silhouette and crescent-cut C-pillar. It is equipped with distinctive active adaptive LED headlamps and lighting (headlights, fog lights, and marker lights). It is available with a sports front fascia and a power sliding and tilting glass sunroof.

Zero-Lift Aerodynamics

Traditionally the enemy of performance, airflow can now be an ally. Designed with zero-lift aerodynamics, the Q50’s upper and lower body directs the flow of air over, around and under the vehicle, turning it into an incredibly effective down-force generator. This advanced aerodynamic design also results in a 0.26 coefficient of drag and zero front and rear lift. Combined with a stiffer suspension, this holistic approach to aerodynamics helps to reduce the effects of wind turbulence - producing an enhanced feeling of grip and control even at freeway speeds.

Intuitively Adaptable Headlamps

Exterior_High-Beam_Assist_System.png

A unique expression of design is centered around twin, multi-mode jeweled headlamps, accented by LED daytime running lights. Each adapts intelligently to changing lighting demands, illuminating in fading daylight or through High Beam Assist. The High Beam Assist system will automatically switch the headlamps to the low beam mode, turning ON/OFF the high beams when it senses ambient light from a vehicle ahead or an oncoming vehicle. The Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) that is equipped on vehicles with the Technology Package, automatically turns the headlamps ON according to vehicle speed and steer, to provide better visibility. When driving on a winding road, AFS can change the lighting pattern by swiveling the headlamp to the steering direction, compensating for the curvature of the road to help enhance night visibility. The AFS control unit provides a swivel angle based on the steering pinion angle and the vehicle speed. It also provides headlamp auto aiming control. The AFS control unit can automatically adjust the headlamp light axis height appropriately according to the vehicle height. This operation is performed when the AFS control unit calculates the vehicle pitch angle from the height sensor signal. The AFS control unit judges the angle for adjusting the axis gap based on the preset position.
