With today’s ever-increasing navigation and audio options, having ease of control has become a necessity. Introduced in the 2016 Maxima®, the Display Commander puts center display navigation and audio controls right at your fingertips with its easily accessible location in the center console. This article gives an overview of the Display Commander controls and some of its key functions.

CONTROLS OVERVIEW

1. MENU – Push to display the HOME MENU screen.

2. BACK– Push to go back to the previous screen.

3. MAP/VOICE – Push to display the vehicle’s current location on the map. Push and hold to hear the current guidance for a programmed route.

4. OK – Push to enter the selected item. If this button is pushed while a map is displayed, the map menu is shown on the display.

5. Center dial/Slide switch – Turn the dial or slide the switch to navigate the center display. Turning the dial or sliding the switch is also used to adjust some settings.

LAUNCH BAR OPERATION – Sliding the slide switch backward will enable the center dial operation of the Launch Bar. Slide the switch forward to return to operate Shortcuts with the center dial.

PAGE SCROLLING – Slide the slide switch to the left to scroll to the previous page. Slide the slide switch to the right to scroll to the next page.

Using the Display Commander in this manner is the same as scrolling with the horizontal page arrows on each side of the touchscreen Home Page.

MAP NAVIGATION – With Map shown on the center display, the Display Commander center dial/slide switch can operate the map scrolling and scale.

VOICE RECOGNITION SELECTION – After pressing the Voice button on the steering wheel, highlight a category listed on the left side of the screen with the Display Commander to find your preferred command.
