Moonroof_Title.jpg

The Power Panoramic Moonroof features a single opening with front and rear glass panels that create an open, airy feeling. The moonroof has a 40% longer sliding length and 29% larger opening than the previous generation design.

The moonroof switch transmits the operation signal for the tilt up/down and slide open/close operations to the moonroof motor and sunshade motor assemblies. The moonroof will only operate when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. The moonroof is operational for 45 seconds of retained power even if the ignition switch is placed in the ACC or OFF position. If the driver’s door or the front passenger’s door is opened during this period of time, the power to the moonroof is canceled.

Moonroof and Sunshade Function

The moonroof motor and CPU are integrated into the moonroof motor assembly.

Auto Operation

The moonroof and sunshade AUTO feature makes it possible to slide open and slide close the moonroof and sunshade without holding the moonroof switch in the slide open/close position.

Retained Power Operation

Retained power operation is an additional power supply function that enables the moonroof and sunshade system to operate for 45 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the front doors remain closed.

Anti-pinch Function

The moonroof and sunshade motors have a built-in CPU that monitors the moonroof motor and sunshade motor operation and position. If a restriction is detected during the slide close operation, the moonroof/sunshade motor will move the glass/sunshade into the open position.

Initializing the Moonroof

For normal operation, the power moonroof must be initialized after any of the following operations or events occur:

If the moonroof does not open or close automatically, check the BCM power supply and ground circuit. If the inspection results are normal, then check the moonroof motor assembly power supply and ground circuit. Repair or replace the malfunctioning parts as necessary. Then use the following procedure to return moonroof operation to normal.

Initialization Process

1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

2. Push and hold the moonroof tilt up switch forward until the moonroof stops.

3. Release the moonroof switch.

4. Press and hold the tilt up switch within 6 seconds.

5. The roof glass will Tilt-Down, Slide-Close, Slide-Open, Slide-Close, Tilt-Up, and Tilt-Down.

6. Release the switch; initialization is complete if the moonroof operates normally.

Sunshade

If the sunshade does not open or close automatically, use the following procedure to return sunshade operation to normal.

Initialization Process

1. Switch the vehicle ignition to the ACC or ON position.

2. Press and hold the sunshade close switch.

3. The sunshade will begin moving toward the close position only while the switch is continually pressed. (This disables the obstacle detection.)

4. The sunshade will stop for about 4 seconds.

5. The sunshade drive cable will travel in the open direction for .394 in. (10 mm) then reverse direction and stop at the normal close position.

6. Release the sunshade close switch. The initialization procedure is complete.

ANTI-PINCH FUNCTION

Moonroof

1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

2. Open the moonroof to the fully open position.

3. Place a piece of wood at the fully closed position.

4. Close the moonroof completely with the auto-slide close function.

5. The moonroof should make contact and then tilt up or travel in reverse for 7.87 in. (200 mm).

Sunshade

1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

2. Open the sunshade to the fully open position.

3. Place a piece of wood at the fully closed position.

4. Close the sunshade completely with the auto-slide close function.

5. The sunshade should make contact and then travel in reverse for 3.94 in. (100 mm).
