2012 Midtronics Battery Testing Software Updates

The 2012 quarterly software update for Midtronics battery testers is now available. The 2012 software updates for the Midtronics GR8 and EXP800 battery diagnostic equipment are now available via ASIST. The software updates are delivered via ASIST.

Updating the GR8-1200-NI via USB-to-MicroUSB to the CONSULT PC

When updating the GR8, make sure the control module is mounted and both cables are attached. Both units must be turned ON before connecting to the ASIST terminal.

Note: Before beginning, disconnect the USB/Mini USB cable from the ASIST to the GR8, if the cable is plugged in.

1. Plug the GR8 into a dedicated AC outlet, turn ON the GR8, then click "next" on the Update Wizard.

2. If a SD card is installed, remove it until the Update Wizard on ASIST is complete, and then click "next" on the Update Wizard.

3. Connect the USB/Mini USB cable from the ASIST to the GR8. Click "next" on ASIST to begin the update process.

4. Detecting the GR8, "Please Wait" will appear on the Update Wizard screen.

Follow the Update Wizard screens to complete the process. The update will take five to 10 minutes to complete.

Note: DO NOT interrupt the process once started. Doing so may damage the GR8.

Updating the EXP-800 via Serial Connector-to-Serial Connector to the CONSULT PC

For the EXP-800, you'll need to first connect it to a 12 volt power source. Connect the RS-232C-Cable (serial connector-to-serial connector) to the EXP-800 and the ASIST PC.

1. Connect the RS-232C Serial cable from the computer to the bottom of the EXP-800.

2. If a SD card is installed, remove it until the Update Wizard is complete, and then click "next" on the Update Wizard.

3. Turn ON the EXP-800. Click "next" on the Update Wizard to begin the update process.

4. Detecting the EXP, "Please Wait" will appear on the Update Wizard screen.

Follow the Update Wizard screens to complete the process.

Note: DO NOT interrupt the process once started. Doing so may damage the EXP.

Going forward, the Midtronics testers will be updated on a quarterly basis to ensure the latest data is always available and dealers will be billed once for the full year. If a quarterly update is missed, the tester will inform the user and will cease functioning 30 days later, unless the update is performed.
