In January 2013 both the J-50097-FUEL TECH-MATE Fuel Analysis Kit and the J-50097-NONFUEL TECH-MATE Fluid Analysis Kit shipped to all Nissan dealerships.

Contamination from water, diesel, improper use of E85, foreign debris, non-approved fluids, cross contamination and lack of proper maintenance concerns are rising in many regions. Contaminants in fuel or fluids can be the root cause of many difficult-to-diagnose conditions that often lead to unnecessary part replacement and a lot of time spent performing unnecessary repairs.

The FUEL Analysis Kit and the NONFUEL Analysis Kit are intended to aid in diagnosis of vehicle concerns when a fuel or fluid-related issue is suspected. These kits provide simple, fast third party lab analysis of either fuel or other fluids which can help to identify vehicle issues caused by improper or contaminated fluids.

Samples are shipped to the lab via pre-paid FedEx priority overnight for analysis and your dealership will receive the results before the end of the next business day.

BOSCH/TECH-MATE is providing a third-party analysis service to assist with fuel and fluid diagnosis. By using the J-50097-FUEL TechMate Fuel Analysis Kit or the J-50097-NONFUEL TechMate Fluid Analysis Kit to submit samples, you can find out if contaminants exist in the fuel or fluids in your customer’s vehicle.

When you submit samples to the lab via the pre-paid FedEx priority overnight package for analysis, you wil receive a report the next day via email. The analysis report will indicate when there are insoluble materials present in the samples that are above the normal limits. If excessive materials are present, that may be an indication of abnormal wear levels occuring. The report will also indicate when all wear metals in the samples are well within the normal range. (That would be a good sign that no major mechanical problems are developing.)

The Fuel Analysis Kit and Fluid Analysis Kit include:

Submitting Samples

1. Carefully fill ALL THREE bottles with the SAME sample to be tested. DO NOT CONTAMINATE the sample, or test results may be invalid.

2. Apply the enclosed tape to each sample bottle to ensure they are firmly sealed.

3. Place all three bottles into the absorbent bag, and seal the bag securely.

4. Place the test samples bag in the box along with the completed Dealer and Sample form.

NOTE: Be certain that you completely fill out the Dealer and Sample form. Remember to include your e-mail contact information on the form and mail it in with the sample shipment. If you do not fill out the form and send it in with your samples, your test results may be delayed or lost.

5. Seal the box with the box enclosure tape strip.

6. Deliver the test kit box to FedEx.

NOTE: USPS or UPS will not ship this box.

NOTE: To serve customers in a timely manner, this tool must be available whenever it is needed! Therefore, each time fuel and fluid samples are sent to the lab, BOSCH/TECH-MATE will automatically send a replacement test kit to the dealership. There is no need to order replacements.

Here is an actual sample report that shows the results of the fluid test.

These test results indicate a normal condition for the fuel fluid test (based on regional and universal averages). If there was a problem associated with this vehicle, you would need to inspect the system further to determine the cause of the concern.

Here is an actual sample report that shows results of a fluid test that indicates there is is an incorrect fluid in the samples. If the customer needs the diagnosis to acquire repayment of bad fuel or improper fluid, they will also need the report for verification.

A copy of every report is also sent to NNA Field Quality Investigations, for required reporting documentation, research and accountability.
