The NISSAN Intelligent Key® (I-Key) system allows the customer to lock or unlock the vehicle, open the liftgate and start the engine. There are a few situations that will require re-registering the original I-Keys before registering additional I-Keys to the following applicable vehicles.

When to register Intelligent Keys on the 2013-2014 Altima®, 2013-2014 Pathfinder®, 2014 Pathfinder® HEV, 2014 Rogue®, 2013 JX35®, 2014 QX60™, 2014 QX60™ Hybrid, 2014 Q50™ and 2014 Q50™ Hybrid vehicles:

1. After replacing the Body Control Module (BCM).

2. If original I-Keys are lost and need to be replaced.

3. When adding I-Keys to the vehicle.

NOTE:
It is important to be sure that the I-Key is within the detection area when in use outside the vehicle.



NOTE:
If an Intelligent Key is lost, a new Intelligent Key can be registered. A maximum of four Intelligent Keys can be registered.


Use the following procedure to ensure proper registration of the I-Keys:

1. Initialize the BCM.

2. Re-register all of the customer’s I-Keys to the vehicle.

3. Register any new I-Keys being added after all of the original I-Keys have been re-registered.

4. Confirm proper operation of all of the I-Keys by cycling through all of the functions.

IMPORTANT:
If you register the new I-Key before the vehicle’s original I-Keys are re-registered, the original I-Keys will be rendered inoperable and can no longer be registered to the vehicle.



NOTE:
As a general rule, this procedure applies to all vehicle models equipped with Intelligent Keys (I-Keys).
