The 2016 Maxima® Platinum incorporates a feature typically found on luxury vehicles – a power rear window sunshade.

The power rear window sunshade is featured ONLY in the Maxima Platinum as standard equipment. The sunshade helps reduce the sun’s glare and the sun’s heat transfer into the interior of the vehicle. This helps provide a more comfortable interior environment and decreases interior cooling needed from the air conditioning system. In addition, the sunshade helps protect the interior from UV radiation while providing improved privacy.

REAR SUNSHADE UNIT

• The rear sunshade motor is part of the rear sunshade unit.

• The rear sunshade motor receives the up/down signal from the rear sunshade switch and operates the rear sunshade.

REAR SUNSHADE OPERATION

• The rear sunshade switch signal is transmitted to the rear sunshade unit when the rear sunshade switch is operated.

• The rear sunshade unit operates the rear sunshade motor and opens or closes the rear sunshade.

• When the rear sunshade reaches the fully open or fully closed position or an obstacle interrupts its operation, the rear sunshade unit detects overload of the rear sunshade motor, interrupts the power supply and stops the operation.

NOTE: The rear sunshade is controlled directly from the rear sunshade switch on the instrument panel through a harness connector to the sunshade motor in the rear window. The rear sunshade motor will only operate with the ignition switch in the ON position and provides battery voltage (12 V nominal) when the switch is in the UP or DOWN position. Power is not routed through the BCM or other controllers. A 10 A fuse in position #30 in the fuse panel protects the circuit.
